Dorayaki | Dora cake

#ramcooks #burpfulkitchen #dorayaki #doracake #pancake

I have marked this recipe from cooking group long time...

Was thinking of wat to do for snacks today and thought of this... And here it is :)

Kids loved the dora cake πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

Receipe is not too complex...

In a bowl add 2 eggs, 3/4 cup powdered sugar and beat well until sugar dissolves.
Add 3/4cup all purpose flour, 1 tsp honey, 1/2tsp baking powder and mix until smooth. Add one or two spoons water if it's too thick. Batter should be like cake batter consistency. Let it sit for 15 mins.

Take a non-stick pan and add few drops of butter or any neutral flavoured oil. With a piece of cloth wipe the oil around the pan.
Drop one small laddle full of batter at the centre. Cook on low flame. Once the top is getting bubbles approximately 2 mins slightly lift the pancake and flip it down. Cook on medium flame for another 1 min. Take it out on a plate.

Again add few drops oil and wipe with cloth and do the next pancake. Repeat the same for the rest of the batter. Oiling and cleaning the pan for every pancake is must. Because by doing like that only we can get smooth surface on the back.

Traditional dorayaki uses red bean paste as stuffing between the pancakes. You can use Nutella. I have used Choco topping only as I don't have Nutella now.  Stuff two pancake with the brown side out with Nutella.

Kids enjoyed the dora cake, of course me too πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

Will add SBS pictures in comments.

Someone posted masala Karela recipe couple of days back.. read the recipe that time... Sorry couldn't recollect the name.

Got up super late today was in hurry to prepare for husband's lunch box.. easiet veggie was raw banana but it was small one , regular banana fry won't be sufficient for us... Was thinking wat to do and thought of this... No time to read the recipe again so did it in my way like just other veggies.

My recipe goes like this:

In a pan add oil, temper mustard seeds, fennel seeds... Add finely chopped onions once it's translucent add chopped tomatoes. Once it's mushy add chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and pinch of garam masala. Saute for a minute. Add water 1/4 cup and mix well. Add the chopped raw banana (cut it little thicker) coat well with masala. Close with lid and cook in low flame. Stir occasionally add oil if starts sticking to bottom. Cook about 10 mins. Add chopped coriander and turn off the stove.

Tastes yum with the sambar satham πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

I got lots of sweet corn this time 10+. So my every day food menu has something with sweet corn. Please excuse for repeatedly posting only sweet corn back to back πŸ˜‰

Was surfing internet for all available sweet corn recipes and found Manchurian recipe. I love Manchurian dry version so here it's on my plate now.

Recipe is simple

Coarsely pulse sweet corn. In a bowl add pulsed sweet corn, chopped carrot, chopped garlic, salt, 1 tsp maida, 1 tsp corn flour, pepper powder. Mix well. Deep fry and keep it aside. It can be consumed as such , it's tasty too. Since I have focused on Manchurian I kept it out of sight for sometime πŸ˜…

In a pan add oil, chopped garlic, chopped ginger, chopped green chilli and saute for  couple of mins. Add one small size onion finely chopped. Saute till it starts turning brown. Add soy sauce, tomato sauce . Red chilli sauce is optional. I haven't added as it's for kids. In a bowl add 1/4 cup water, 1/2 sp corn flour and mix well. Add this corn flour mix to the pan and mix everything. Add the fried Manchurian to the sauce mix. Add 1/4sugar. Saute everything on high heat until the mixture is thick. If you want it semi gravy type add fried Manchurian and mix well n turn  of immediately. Add chopped spring onion white and green.

That's it , yummy sweet corn Manchurian is ready πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

I have used 1/2 sweet corn, 1 small carrot, 3 garlic for the Manchurian. 1 small onion, 3 garlic , 1/4 inch ginger for the sauce.

I have paired this up with Sweet corn Thahiri which is not in pic. I was super hungry so din had time to click 😎😎 will post that recipe with pic next time 😚

White Pumpkin Halwa

#ramcooks #burpfulkitchen #whitepumpkinhalwa #sweet

I reserved some pumpkin in the morning while making sambar.

This halwa is very simple and quick and tastes awesome πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

In a pan, add ghee, roast cashews and keep it aside. Add grated pumpkin with the water and cook on medium heat until the pumpkin in cooked. You can close with lid and cook. Once the pumpkin is cooked add sugar, cardomom powder a pinch, food coloring, and give a brief stir. Adding nutmeg powder will enhance taste , I don have nutmeg so I din add. Cook till the halwa starts separating from the sides. Only this much have to be done for Kasi halwa.

My mom's recipe , she will add a spoon of wheat flour mixed in water to the above mixture and cook till it starts leaving sides. I have added wheat flour water here.  The quantity is so less as I cooked very small amount of pumpkin. I couldn't resist myself from licking the pan πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

The one on the picture is reserved for kids 😘😘

Add sugar as per your taste level. I used 1/4 wedge of pumpkin, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 cardomom. My total quantity is very less only. Mine turned medium sweet.

Wheat Poli | Poran Poli | Poranam Poli | Sweet Poli

#ramcooks #burpfulkitchen #wheatpoli #coconut

This is my first time doing this poli... I always think it's too complicated to do... But no it's not that difficult πŸ˜‰sothapified first few on folding though 😜

Receipe as follows :

Add 1 cup wheat flour, 1/4 tsp turmeric and salt and prepare like chapathi dough. Apply 1 spoonful of gingelly oil after kneading and let it rest for 1 hour.

For the filling:(poranam)

Add 1/2 cup jaggery 3/4 cup water and keep it in stove.once jaggery is melt down strain it to remove any impurities. Add it back to the pan, and let it boil. Add grated coconut and a pinch of cardomom powder and a pinch of dry ginger(optional) and mix everything well. Keep in medium heat and saute until it gets thick. Keep the poranam aside.

For making the poli :

In the kitchen surface keep a polythene bag(I used milk cover). Take lemon size kneaded dough and place on top of cover. Apply some oil in your fingers. Press the dough to make a 4 inch circle. Keep one spoonful of poranam in the centre. Fold the  outer circle on top. Pinch out the extra dough on top and press it again gently on both sides. Press is slowly so that the poranam don't come out.
Tip : keep your hands oily. I first pressed the dough thick in centre and thinner at outer circle after few polis so that I don't have to pinch out extra.
